Become a Community Outreach Liasion

Summary: Reporting to Outreach Program Coordinator 1 and 2, our outreach liaisons serve as the bridge between Machiah’s House and the community. The team helps develop meaningful partnerships, increase community engagement, and support programming that advances MHI’s mission of promoting wellness, education, life enrichment, and positive relationship building for youth aging out of care.

Goal: Outreach Liaisons collaborate with the Outreach Program Coordinators to develop strategies that strengthen community connections while helping MHI meet its annual programming goals. See the Program Coordinator role here

MHI’s Outreach Team (Volunteer)

Positions: We are currently seeking 4-6 (minimum) Outreach Liaisons for our Community Outreach Program Team

Reports To: Outreach Programs Coordinator I & Outreach Program Coordinator II

Commitment: We ask volunteers to commit to serving with Machiah’s House for a minimum of one year.

Planning & Strategy:

Meeting Schedule

  • At least one virtual planning meeting each quarter
  • Ongoing communication through WhatsApp group chats
  • Additional virtual or in-person meetings as needed

Meeting Agendas

  • Brainstorming new program ideas and outreach initiatives
  • Identifying opportunities to strengthen community partnerships
  • Developing strategies to increase attendance and community engagement
  • Ensuring programming remains aligned with MHI’s mission and annual goals

Event Responsibilities:

During events, Outreach volunteers will:

  • Welcome and engage participants and community members
  • Represent Machiah’s House with professionalism, compassion, and integrity
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners
  • Support event operations and participant engagement
  • Assist with implementing wellness workshops and community activities

Resource Development & Community Outreach

Volunteers will:

  • Identify potential sponsors and community partners
  • Assist with securing donations, supplies, and other event resources
  • Help promote programs and events through outreach efforts
  • Encourage community participation and attendance

Program Debrief

Following each program, volunteers will:

  • Participate in debrief meetings
  • Discuss successes and opportunities for improvement
  • Provide recommendations for future programming

Annual Programming Goals

  • Programming should primarily serve youth who have aged out of care and individuals experiencing housing insecurity
  • Annual targets include:
  • One large-scale community event (10–25+ participants–or more)
  • Two to three smaller workshops (5–8 participants- or more)

Time Commitment

  • Typical commitment averages approximately 5 hours (or more) every other month, though hours may vary based on scheduled programming

Outreach Liaisons are expected to:

  • Help plan one community event each quarter or coordinate two to three meaningful workshops annually (virtual or in person)
  • Attend quarterly planning meetings
  • Participate in outreach efforts and event support throughout the year

Volunteer Requirements

Volunteers must:

  • Have a current background check
  • Have access to Zoom and/or Google Meet.
  • Have access to WhatsApp and email
  • Maintain reliable communication with the team
  • Respond to emails and meeting requests within a reasonable timeframe
  • Be available to volunteer approximately five hours every other month, with flexibility during major events and regularly communicating with team in between events/ when necessary
Previous event planning and community outreach experience is strongly preferred but not necessary.
