Help Machiah’s House expand while deepening your knowledge in the foster care system! We seek dedicated individuals that actively seek internship/field placements. If you are a MSW, MPH, MSS or MSSP student interested in supporting a growing non-profit, please explore our internship tab to learn more. Become a Mentor
A caring adult is often the key to changing a young person’s life. This is especially true for youth aging out of the foster care system.
Are you passionate about mentoring young people and helping build the confidence of a young woman in need?
To get started, please complete our volunteer application below. Once your application has been submitted, individual volunteers, or one representative from each volunteer group, will be required to complete a background check.
Note: Mentors are expected to meet with their mentee virtually and/or in the community, as well as to plan and participate in fun and engaging social activities and provide consistent support and encouragement. This is a volunteer position. Select the dropdown or link below to learn more.

Become a General Volunteer
As we work toward securing our residential group home, we remain committed to serving the community through donation drives, resource distribution, and special programming. Our in-person events are hosted at various locations through independent partnerships and collaborations with UNC Charlotte and other generous community entities. If you are interested in volunteering for an upcoming workshop, one-time event, serving as a board member, or becoming a mentor, we would love to hear from you. Become a Board Member
Machiah’s House is seeking passionate and dedicated professionals who are interested in helping expand our impact and reach.
If you are committed to making a difference in the lives of young women, we invite you to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will collaborate with women from diverse backgrounds who are united by a shared commitment to a meaningful cause. This is an opportunity to contribute your expertise, strengthen your leadership skills, and expand your professional network while supporting our mission.
Board Member Commitments
- Board members are asked to make an annual financial contribution at a level that is comfortable for them in support of the organization’s mission and programs.
In addition, board members are expected to:
- Maintain regular communication with fellow board members and organizational leadership.
- Actively participate in board meetings and committee activities.
- Support outreach initiatives and community engagement efforts.
- Contribute to organizational growth and expansion projects as needed.
- Serve as ambassadors for the mission and values of Machiah’s House.
