The Machiah's House Mission
Christina’s story is why we serve this population.
Every year, approximately 20,000 young people age out of the foster care system without the life skills, finances or a safety plan to survive. Machiah’s House was founded to change that story.
Learn more about our mission and values:
Mission Statement:
To improve the lives of young women who have aged out of foster care, through an innovative partnership of community resources that enhance their safety and quality of life.
Program Overview: (Present/Future)
Machiah’s House seeks to become a forthcoming transitional home-based program dedicated to serving unhoused female adults (ages 18 to 21) in the Charlotte, NC area.
We are actively establishing our residential care program, which will offer structured support and training in a safe, home-like setting. Our primary goal is to foster independence both within the residence and in the wider community. As we work towards funding and sustainable programming, we are ever present in the community providing life skill workshops, youth mentorship and growing resources.
Future Placements and Referrals:
Once our home is secured and operational, we plan to accept placements referred from:
- Department of Social Services (DSS)
- Department of Education
- Families/Friends
- Churches
Important Note: Admission decisions will be made by Machiah’s House staff. Agencies and all other inquiries should contact Machiah’s House to inquire about our progress and future availability once the facility is ready to open.
Vision Statement:
Machiah’s House is committed to ensuring that all young female adults impacted by foster care have safe, healthy, and nurturing stability through a quality, comprehensive continuum of care in the fields of social services, education, career-building, corrections, mental health and housing that promotes strong self-independence and advocates for change. We continuously innovate to provide an unwavering commitment of proven programs that engage natural supports to grow, connect, improve and move forward to healthy development.
