THE APPLICATION PROCESS:
Step 1: Complete an application for admission. Make sure you include a working phone number or email address. If we are unable to contact you, you will lose your position on the waiting list. Once you have submitted your application, you will be notified it has been received. When an opening becomes available, you will be called to set up an appointment in order to complete an intake interview.
Step 2: Complete an intake interview. You will be notified 1-3 days after the interview regarding admission.
Step 3: If chosen to be a part of the program, you must complete the rest of the admission packet. You will have 24 hours to complete necessary paperwork before your spot is given to another applicant. Paperwork needs to be completed thoroughly. Spaces should not be left blank on any form.
Step 4: Once all paperwork is completed, a move-in date will be arranged (Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM).
After their approval, the Director of Machiah’s House will gather all necessary paperwork and schedule a meeting with the potential resident, guardian and any other vested parties to discuss program admittance and available services.
ADMISSION PROCESS:
First, fill out and submit the Machiah’s House Admissions Application.
Once application is received, Machiah’s House staff will follow up with a brief phone call and establish an Intake Interview (Mon – Thu between 10:00am to 3:00pm and Friday 10:00am to 1:00pm)
Potential guest residents are encouraged to ask questions which will be addressed during their initial Intake Interview.
Each potential guest resident is subject to a background check which will be conducted to be considered for admission.
There is a 24-hour turnaround time for response of acceptance into our program.
REQUIREMENTS:
***We are NOT an emergency shelter***
Must be 18-21 years old and female
Must not be pregnant
NC resident for six months or more
Applicants must have a current psychological evaluation or be screened by the Behavioral Health Services for the appropriate level of service
Cannot be experiencing significant mental health challenges or being prescribed psychotropic medications
Willing to attend counseling/therapy on a regular basis (if determined necessary)
Attend school, obtain employment and participate in Life skills classes, Case Management & Individualized goal setting offered, Individual/group counseling and vocational assistance provided, Financial education, Spiritual guidance and other extracurricular activities
NC driver’s license or NC ID
Must have private medical insurance or Medicaid Card, Social Security card, birth certificate
We also require proof of a negative drug test (completed by your physician or at another location), and notarized letter of liability
Required to attend a Christian church service on Sunday morning (or Saturday evening)
Perform chores, observe curfews, sign in and out, and serve as a volunteer no less than 20 hours per week
Must agree to pay her financial portion of the cost of the program
Be able to function independently, physically and emotionally with minimal supervision
Willing to get along with others, and willing to work with the other residents for the unity of the home
Willing to share a home with others and follow House Rules
Willing to learn living, social and employment skills
Minimum of six months stay up to 24 months stay
WE CANNOT ACCEPT WOMEN WHO:
Have children residing with them and in their custody
Are experiencing significant mental health challenges or being prescribed psychotropic medications.
Are in the process of disability determination planning or planning to apply for disability.
Have severe alcohol or drug abuse/dependence
Have a history of criminal/violent behavior

- Identification including NC Driver’s License, Social Security Card, and Birth Certificiate
- Medicaid Card
